    At TOA, every interaction with our patients and their families provides an opportunity to provide the best possible orthopaedic care. Our Training and Development Manager is responsible for equipping and enabling our more than 500 colleagues with the skills and mindset to do just that. The Training and Development Manager collaborates with a number of TOA stakeholders and directly with colleagues in all of our clinics. This position reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, and works closely with our Patient Experience Manager, clinical site managers, Central Business Office leadership, and information technology. By delivering top-flight training and development programs, this position helps to ensure TOA colleagues are helpful, patient-centric, efficient, and performing at the highest levels.

    Responsibilities

    Specifically, the Training and Development Manager will:

     

    • Develop and implement effective training programs to ensure TOA employees are effectively using our NextGen EMR and our established workflows and procedures.
      • Training will be provided to non-clinical employees such as Patient Access Representatives, Financial Counselors, Appointment Schedulers and revenue cycle employees – as well as clinical employees such as Medical Assistants and other providers.
      • The focus of the training will be initial training on systems and processes for new employees to establish a firm operational footing for clinic and CBO functions
      • Existing employees will also be trained when procedures are modified, remedial training if required, or refresher training is warranted
    • Partner with the Patient Experience Manager and other stakeholders to establish and deploy other training programs to improve the patient experience and TOA’s work environment, such as:
      • Customer service,
      • Communications,
      • Teamwork
      • Process
    • Evaluate and assess existing training programs to measure the effectiveness of the training, and implementing modifications or enhancements to increase that effectiveness
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training courses, workshops, or other developmental interventions designed to address training needs of individuals or groups of employees.
    • Develop and/or maintain training and development resources that will ensure sustainable learning, including training manuals, e-learning, and other training programs and materials.
    • May be asked to partner with other stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of processes, procedures and workflow; develop recommendations; and assist with change management efforts to implement changes

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be successful blend of motivator, trainer, analyst, and program developer. Specific experiences should include:

    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least three years of demonstrated training delivery and program management, preferably in a healthcare practice
    • Successful implementation or training of healthcare practice management systems, preferably NextGen
    • Ability to deliver a comprehensive suite of soft-skills training, including customer service, collaboration, teamwork, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver captivating, effective training and development programs over a variety of delivery methods – including instructor led, online, self-directed e-learning, etc.
    • Experience conducting a needs analysis, working with organizational colleagues to determine organizational training and development needs
    • Development and documentation of training and development programs or successful identification of applicable resources
    • Working knowledge of learning management systems, including identification of viable systems, implementation of these systems, and leveraging these systems for ongoing and compliance training
    • Ability to provide Train-the-Trainer sessions is a plus
    • Fluency in all MS products and a variety of presentation or e-learning platforms
