This position is responsible for NextGen system configuration, application security settings, and support of NextGen EHR and SQL. Supports the user community at large. Supports, troubleshoots and tests software interfaced to NextGen to include various ancillary solutions.   Manage and maintain escalation paths for issue resolution and communication in the case of unexpected results or errors, and communicate status while seeing issues through to resolution. Assists with upgrades.



  • Troubleshoot issues brought forward by the user community, particularly in scheduling and CBO, tracking them to root cause

  • Proactively identify and bring forward process improvement opportunities within NextGen

  • Routinely check availability of patches/hot fixes and their applicability to TOA

  • Identify root cause of issues and document in TOA’s internal TRACK IT ticketing system and on TOAToday to build knowledge base

  • Manages and escalates open tickets with NextGen’s Magic System

  • Maintain control of NextGen application security settings and global preference settings

  • Identify need for and assist with training – establish and foster an environment of continuous learning

  • Create on-demand reports

  • Assist as needed with compliance projects as they relate to NextGen

  • Participate in upgrade planning and execution

  • Maintain adequate NextGen support cross training within the IT team to include day to day support and master file maintenance

  • Participate in development of Disaster Recovery Documentation and in annual test of same



  • Strong analytical and documentation ability

  • Excellent communications skills (i.e. ability to interact effectively with end users,Physicians, management and co-workers)

  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to others while staying focused on the issues at hand


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience with Documentation tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Ability to and experience with facilitating group discussions and lead training sessions

  • NCP (NextGen Certified Professional) in EPM required
